A cardboard box outside Penn Station might go in that range, but if you want it over a steam grate expect to pay a little more.

600 or 700 a month? are you kidding? Rent in NYC is at least double that if not triple that. Even the outer boroughs like Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island, etc. are all more than that. You wouldn't even get an apartment in New Jersey or Conneticut for that much and commute in. Forget about a one or two bedroom, for that much you'd be LUCKY to get a studio. If you want a one or two bedroom in manhattan you need to be prepared to start at $1500 - $2000 a month.

Not possible. People feel they are getting a deal when they find a bedroom for rent in someones apartment for $600. Most people would not let 2 people share a bedroom in their apartment for that price. A very good deal on a one bedroom is still over $1000. Obviously more for a two bedroom. Any studio apartment in that range is in a terrible location where you will be shot or it's 2 hours from Manhattan.

Even in the outer boroughs, you are going to have a very hard time finding an apartment for two people for that price. If you don't mind sharing a studio...maybe! But even then, it will not be in either a nice or convenient location!

Try at least doubling your budget and then check Craigslist for what you can get. They allow you to search by both price and number of bedrooms, so play around with that and see what comes up.

Honey, you will not find any 2bed apt in NYC for 600-700 a month, that's what most studios are going for now...

And one bedroom in the rough areas.

You would have to apply for rent stablized apts, and even then there is a long list.

2 Bedroom in NYC start at $900 and up, which is why most people go for the room mate option, might be best to look there...

Here in San Diego you can only rent a bedroom in someone elses house/apartment for $600. Most decent apts here go for $950 and up. NYC ive heard is the same, and the landlords there screen you more (check ur income, references etc)

Not in the general NYC area will you find a 1 - 2 bedroom apartment for that amount. Maybe 1600 - 2000. Sorry.

i could say convey on 8-10k to stay very actual for 2 months.. you may stay off 4-5k yet that's merely scraping by making use of. confident convey your individual furnishings and save it minimum with the aid of fact many of the rooms tend to be on the smaller area.. small as in.. like a walk-in-closet kinda small. I stay in NJ suitable outdoors of NYC. It takes me 15 min by making use of bus and 10 by making use of prepare. i could recommend possibly residing in Jersey for some months with the aid of fact hire is severely extra much less costly. i be attentive to that Jersey isn't merely like the city despite the fact that that's a extreme high quality thank you to ease into the NYC existence-variety. a minimum of you may have a greater and extra much less costly room. So once you detect a sturdy job and save sufficient money you may pass into the city. Public transportation is extremely sturdy here and that's usually working so which you do not want a automobile in case you plan on merely staying in this section. Goodluck!
