Take Head Rushes advice if you want the best of both worlds then join the reserves. The reserves gives you insight into the daily life of a soldier and what's expected. If you do join whether reserves or reg. force you'll do things no one in there life will get to do.You'll meet people you have never thought you would have meet and some undesire ables but you will have a blast . When you leave you'll do things that you thought you could/would never do.

Your best is to go onto the recruitment net "Army" and that should give you an insight into what will be expected from you.
The training is to start with dedicated to one of basic discipline, that means loads of shouting at you, drilling you, running you into the ground. This is not a pointless exercise as it is all to make you as an individual stronger than you ever thought you could be.
Later once all the BS is over with you will train to whatever trade you are allocated too.
You will then spend most of the time learning various infantry skills and navigation and so much more, things as I have said, you would never dream of attempting to do by yourself. Good discipline means, a good soldier.
Good luck to you, your committing yourself to something that not every person can say they have done, you will end up a better and more worldly educated person than the average person on the street.

dont do it kid ,if the crap thats going on at the moment isnt stopped then you might be drafted with the rest of the western world anyway ,sadly if people dont wake up.never volunteer for that job,not in this generation anyway.when the army is being used for the right reason and not as a tool for world banks then go for it ,but right now youed have to be crazy.sorry probly not what you wanted to here but fact.

Well you can start running and after a couple of weeks add a back pack with some weights in it. Don't forget to time yourself. do extra push-ups and other exercises. you can contact your nearest recruiter and they can tell you more. Also join the ROTC program at your school that helps you see exactly what we go through in the military.

Contact your local AFCO (Armed Forces Careers Office) and ask them. Their details should be in the Yellow Pages.

Or click on www.army.mod.uk.
