i have a 2001 nissan altima and i would like to upgrade my cars audio. i dont want to put subs in it but I would like to upgrade my speakers and put some bass into the speakers through a amplifier. I was wondering can I connect an 4-channel amp with 4 after market speakers? i know the watt on the amp has to be lower than the total watt on the speakers. any advice on the best brands out there for an amp and car speakers? how much will it cost? any comments....thanks

The best brands are Rockford Fosgate and Memphis Audio. However if you are not rich enough to buy those, just get something like Sony (Which I currently have) Rockford and Memphis, $250+ for the amps, and a Sony 4 channel amp is about $100 for 800 watts or another is 1000 watts for $150

good question. Buy a QUALITY 4 channel amp such as rockford fosgate. You only need 25 RMS Watts. A good one is about $200. If you still want to use your factory cd player then you can use the "high level inputs"

The RMS Watts of the amp does not have to be lower then the power handling of the speakers. In fact it should be %25 higher.

The best brands out there for speakers are Pioneer, bose, and Infinity

The best brands for Amps are Rockford Fosgate. Period.

Total cost, $300 for a quality system, 150 for el cheepo

I will say tho that Jensen has the best low cost products

if i were you i would get a Kenwood Excelon amp. they have great sound quality. a 4 channel amp will run you about $200. but its worth the price for the quality. also if you want a good brand stay out of best buy and circut city. although they sell brands that are good, like Pioneer, Kenwood, and Eclipse its the low end stuff. its not the high quality stuff these brands got there Reps from.

Generally, larger speakers produce better bass as they're able to move more air. So, if you don't intend to get any subs, then get some good 6x9's and 8" coaxials if possible. You can look into brands like JBL, MTX and Directed.

Jenson, Clarion, and Sony are all Fairly priced with good quality

But, before going out and buying an amp i reccomend you be sure your sterio will support one, if it is the stock sterio it is unlikely
