It may be okay (after the girl actually turns 18 yrs old--otherwise you probably understand the legal problems)....but why would a girl want to date someone that much older. At 18 & 27 there are many differences which will be discovered as time goes along. He'll be too old to attend the prom, they'll both feel awkward when they're with their respective friends, and the things they'll be interested in doing will vary as well. I think your friend should listen to her mom.

What's wrong is a 27 year old man trying to date an 18 year old girl. Something fisy is going on there. It's probably just about sex. Tell your friend to find someone her own age for now.

There is more difference between 18 and 27 than between 30 and 39. Most people do not leave adolescence psychologically/emotionally until at least age 25. So the level of maturity and knowing what she wants in life is much less than his. He may also just be sexually attracted to her, unless he is emotionally/mentally stunted for his age and is at her level.
Anyway, I too would find it difficult to accept this relationship as a mother.

Someone who is 20, or even 30 something, that is seeking a teenager to date is just looking for a good time in the sack.
She needs to live life and find out what she wants as far as a job and life long goals before she gets messed up with someone that is way too old for her.

my parents have the same age difference, it doesnt matter... at least not at that age. i mean, if they were kids, it wud be kinda gross... a 11 year old dating a 2 yr old? u kno wat i mean? but from the age of i say about 18 or 19 on (depends on the person) the age difference shud not matter because ur all adults, in a way. its the same stage of life. the same 'generation' u cud say. only ppl from ur age group shud be with u. like the teens with the teens, the adults with the adults and the 'oldies' (sorry for that word cudnt think of anything else :P) with the oldies... otherwise its just weird! hope that helps. i wish u guys good luck!

Age is only a number and as long as she's 18 ( or turning 18 soon), then it shouldn't be a huge problem... as long as the guy doesn't seem way creepy...
