yes, pick up and place on lap with towel under cat. Wrap cat in towel, snugly. Place now "docile" cat in carrier. The towel works all the time. Once you let go of her, she can get out of the towel in a minute or two.

The easiest way that I have found is to put the carrier on end so that you can lower the cat into it. I've done it with a nearly wild cat bigger than yours.
One other suggestion. Do it in a closed room where the cat has no place to hide. Otherwise you might end up chasing the cat all over the house if you can't get it into the carrier the first time. Been there - done that.

Wrapping in a towel is very calming so I would definitely try that. Depending on the type of carrier you have, I am thinking of the plastic ones with the doors, I just tip the carrier up to almost vertical and put the cat in head first. And I am talking about doing it with a terrified 12 pound male cat - so with a little tyke like you have it should be a breeze.

I usually put an article of my clothing (you could use something of your wife or daughter's, since she likes them better) in the carrier, grab the cat and shove it in. Once in, they settle down. And they get over being p.o.'d after a while. A nice bowl of can catfood or something else she likes to eat, will work wonders. If you really want the cat to like you, mess with her a lot. Pet, brush, play with her. Pretty soon, she'll be looking for you.

When holding the kitty, have a towel or small blankie ready and then wrap the kitty in it and put her in the carrier. She may dirty the carrier - happens all the time.

Glad to hear your taking her to the vet - what a great start in her life!

Easiest way I know of doing it without any injury to yourself or kitty is to turn the carrier with the gate towards the ceiling, grab kitty by the scruff on the back of the neck, Don't worry you are not hurting the kitty. Lift up kitty and lower it into the trap.

It is allot easier this way and less stressful on both kittie and you.

What i did was with my kitten and his first trip to the vet i put his favourite toys in and his favourite blanket and i left the carrier open for about a week and he loves it now he sleeps in it and everything you should try that let him or her get used to it first then see hope this helps.

Sounds crazy but --- catnip! Catnip may work but just be careful not to get too close when it goes in.

Either that or place a piece of your daughter's (old and unused) in the carrier and see what happens

Open up the carrier, and put a toy inside, or a tiny bit of wet cat food. Let her come to it and sniff it out, she'll probably go inside it a bit, that's when you shove her kitty butt in there and close it behind her. You'll need to prepare early anytime you have a vet visit.

When I took my kitty to the vet I held her paws and layed her in there and then closed the door really fast. She was pissed, but it got the job done.
