Yes, of course! I know that this is going to sound crazy but, I think that if you help people it spreads happiness. (you help someone, they help someone else....and on and on) Then maybe someday when you need help it will come back to you!

No, not with no guarantee that it would be put to good use. I would not give someone money to buy drugs or a gun, no way. All strangers are not good guys.

I am not saying that I don't help out my fellow man (or woman), because I most certainly do I drive a big 4x4 and regularly pull people out of ditches, especially when it is icy, whenever I see someone with their hood up, I offer help, as well as when I am on the water, I always offer help to stranded boaters, have towed in many of them, your question was not about charity, to me, it added "no strings attached, no guarantee that it will go to good use" and my answer remains, "no" to that. I want to actually do something helpful, or I could throw money out the window and hope someone who needs it finds it.

Dear Wishful Thinker: Bear with me for one moment and then I will answer your question. To bc Munkee I wish to say: No one is "outside" of God. He is IN YOU whether you acknowledge Him, or desire Him to be or not. Through the Holy Spirit, He resides in your soul. God is not dependent on your believing in Him. He doesn't require your belief. He prompted you, inspired you - to help with the tire. YOU are USED by Him whether your Intellect blocks you from knowing so, or not ! The Holy Spirit uses YOU, Munkee, easily.

Again, Dear Wishful Thinker: We are all "used" by the Holy Spirit to help both those we are acquainted with and those we are not. ALL OF US give constantly upon the sudden flashes of inspiration, the feelings of being prompted or urged to do so. There are seldom strings attached, and more seldom do we actually know how what we offered truly affected another - or what was done with what we gave.

YOU, ALSO, give this help constantly. Have you never stooped over to help someone pick up groceries that spilled out of their bag? Have you never put some money into a box for a Homeless Shelter? Have you never offered to someone a "tip" that guided them toward something they needed?

For more major things: Think upon this: You have never received anything you wanted or needed, but THROUGH another. You can't have work, money, gifts, the right price on a purchase, LOVE, information, ANYTHING without it coming to you through another. Everything we have ever had came from someone who GAVE it to us (including the creativeness of manufacturers) ! SELDOM are there strings attached. And not one of the people of your life could guarantee how you would use what they gave you, or if it would be squandered. We are Created to GIVE. And, we do!

No strangers - just brothers (both sexes). One. We fill each other's lack - constantly. Your Creator would have it no other way. He would never have created you to be any other way. He created one-ness whether we allow acknowledgement of that, or not !

Best regards, Lana

I would help strangers and I have done so in the past. If someone needs my help then I will help them, I don't want anything in return. I do ask them that if they see someone requiring help in the future to do the same.
I will only help people if they ask for help, not force myself on them (like some do)
By the way, I am an atheist. It has nothing to do with what the "bible" teaches. My mother taught me to want to be nice to my fellow human, not a fictional book.

Your additional comment on your question is exactly why I help strangers. I don't help so that I can get something from them in return, I try to put myself in their position and hope that one day if ever I am in that situation, someone would help me as well.

As long as it didn't put me in physical harm's way. I helped a neighbor once attempt to escape an abusive relationship. Not only did she eventually go back to her abuser, but he stalked and harrassed me for a month. So it depends on the kind of help they require. Changing a tire in broad daylight? Sure. Helping them get a couch into the back of their van at the outskirts of a dimly lit parking lot at 10:00 o'clock at night? I've seen "The Silence of the Lambs", thanks.

Yes, and I have. We took in a homeless man. Cleaned him up and found him a job. He was such an angel and very kind and respectful. He eventually quit the job and went back to being homeless. He said it was easier to be homeless than have all the resposibilities of a job and a home. Needless to say we were disappointed but to each his own.

I did Saturday. A lady pulled into the parking lot at my office as I was leaving for the day. She had a flat tire, so I changed it for her. She offered to pay me, but I refused. I just consider this my payment towards bettering humanity. BTW: I am not even religious! Go figure, a hethen with morals?!

I HAVE helped strangers....for the Bible says in doing so you have entertained angels unaware....and we all need help sometime as well......I believe God uses people to bless those around us...we are His arms and legs and voice in sharing His love and telling others about what a marvelous God He is!

Of course. It is unconditional service and love of others that leads us to understand our true selves. If we help others with alterior motives or only under certain circumstances, then we are not fully letting go of our selfishness, which prevents us from receiving the full benefit.
