Just got back myself - can recommend some crackers and an area with loads of cool bars -

1. Markt - Belgian in meatpacking district - 14th and 9th Avenue
2. Pastis - same area - celeb spoting at reasonable prices
3. Nero - Italian same area - spot on food
4. Serendipidy - cant remember where it was but went last year - ask for directions...

the standard way to find good food in a strange city at a reasonable price - go to the area with lots of restaurants ( at lunch or dinner time )and get in the longest line you see

There is a deli off of 38th and 8th it is attached to the Days Hotel...go there and get some cheesecake it is amazzzzzing.
