Take out the seeds and mess inside the middle of the pumpkin.

Cover the pumpkin in foil and bake in the over for about 2 hours at 300 - you can cut pumpkin in half to cook better.

You will then have some pumpkin pulp you can use in pies for pumpkin breads, etc. It freezes well and it's full of vitamins.

Or slice the pumpkin and cook in chicken broth with some chili pepper, salt, pepper, garlic minced, and chopped onion. Mash the soup or puree the soup - this is so good on a winter night.

I've seen many used as a soup/stew tureen. You might try a pumpkin soup or a beef stew prepared seperately then heated in the cleaned out pumpkin shell in a 375 degree F until the soup/stew is hot and bubbly and the pumpkin slightly browned. Makes a great presentation.
