as i get closer to it and see more of it, its the process rather than the concept.

I am not really afraid of death. It is the only thing that we can not avoid doing after we are born. But I fear, hate, loath, and detest pain. Dying is usually very painful.
I get a kick out of the religious not fearing death by indulging in the fantasy that they will live forever. I am not like that.

This is a natural human condition. Fear helps us have an urgency in life and gives us a sense of self preservation. Rationally speaking, our species could not have survived with out this emotion. A species with no or very little fear would have a very fast gestation rate during pregnancy and give birth to a high number of offspring at one time. A species with very little fear would need the high numbers in their population to compensate for the fact that a lot of it's member would be killed by constantly walking fearlessly in to dangerous situations.

I am not afraid of death, what is going to happen will happen. But the idea of a slow in painful death is not my ideal of how to pass away.

My birth, life, and death were set in stone 12-15 billion years ago at the moment the visible universe began.
Why fear what's already happened? I'm just enjoying the ride until I get to the end.

I think anytime you have something happening to you and the out come of that happening is unknown. It is kind of scary. There is no real proof out there of any thing happening to you when you die. Will you go to heaven or hell, will you reincarnate, will you just sit there and rot, Will you sit there and someday at sometime get to "come to life again"?..No one really, really knows that answer. For there has never been a dead person come back to life and tell us. So the fear of the unknown is scary for many people. Even if you have a certain faith in the outcome you never really know until it happens. And for me I have a fear of leaving my family and them not being prepared to handle it..

I used to be afraid of death, but now I know it's just a step into the beginning of my REAL life with my Lord....it holds no fear any more...for Jesus conquered death for me when He died for my sins.

I'm not afraid of death, I know where my spirit will go, it will not float around, I will not come back as some animal or plant, or bug. I will be in heaven with things I have only dreamed of up there, with my family members.

Neither. And I mean that. The suffering experienced in this life is rewarded by God in heaven. No Fear.

Both. Slow and painful, but also, when I really think about it, the idea of just not existing...
