I have been anemic off and on my whole life. I have never been able to take medication due to the fact it would turn my stomach and I wouldn't be able to hold down any food so I have resorted to eating foods high in iron. Its worked for me up until this morning.

While commuting to work I passed out on a crowded train. I wasn't moving around or anything. I was just standing and holding on to the pole. This has never happened to me before and I am scared. If it wasn't for the help of the passengers I don't know what might have happened to me. Does anyone know of a quick fix that I may try while at work? I need to get through the day. Please help.

You need to see a doctor asap and really find out why you are anemic. It can't be all from not getting enough iron. there are OTC pills for that. You are possible loosing blood on s monthly base, or chronic??? there is also the possibility that you are not producing enough red blood cells in your blood marrow. There are also options of treatment for that.
Other choice would be your passing out is completely unrelated to you anemia and it is not as bad.
I hope everything will work out .

Why don't you take iron supplements?

If you don't tolerate them as a pill (they make you throw up etc) then just crush them up into a powder and put them in your food.

I'm also anemic, and I regularly take the iron supplements and they work great. The ones I take are called Feosol and they are 325mg.

I would suggest taking two of them daily for about a month, to build up your depleted iron deposits in your body. If you got dizzy and passed out, they are most likely depleted.

After a month, just switch to taking one a day for another 4-6 weeks.

After that, just take one every other day to maintain your iron intake.

you should go see a doctor, even if you think that the reason why you pass out was because of the Anemic. you better be sure.LOL
