Amoxicillin is broad spectrum penicillin and is usually used for aerobic infection ( thise which rely on air) and metronidazole is for an-aerobic infection ( bacteria the dosn't need air to multiply) so reaaly depends what the bacteria is and where the infection is

Based on the research, metronidazole is. Although it should be used in very strict prescription approval by your doctor. This is REALLY strong stuff. Amoxicillin would be better able to cure what ales you if you have something menial wrong with your body. Ask your doctor which would be better for your case.

Hope this helped
Cheers

Metronidazole is tough stuff, but does not work against many bacteria that amoxicillin does.

It's not so much a question of strength as of purpose; amoxicillin is a form of penicillin and is used for bacterial infection; metronidazole (brand name Flagyl) is used for a broader range of organisms, including fungus and parasites such as giardia, as well as some bacterial infections.

Although metranidazole is pretty powerful it really is not the case of which is stronger but which is more effective against the bacteria you have. Most bacteria are sensitive to some antibiotics but resistant to others. If you are needing a powerful, and effective broad spectrum antibiotic then many doctors prefer Co-Amoxiclav which comes in large doses. Metranidazole is often prescribed in conjuction with other antibiotics. If you are taking Metranidazole remember not to drink alcohol as you will vomit.

strength doesn't matter..what matters is whether the bacterium you are trying to kill is sensitive to the Antibiotic...amoxicillin is good for respiratory infections..metronidazole for dental, bowel and gynae infections as a rule
