I would like to make chocolate chip cookies like the ones sold at Millies cookies, whatever I try though, they turn out wrongly!

I don't know what Millie's is, or how their cookies taste but I do recommend using the nestle tollhouse cookie recipe and just follow the directions. I bake them all of the time and they are the first things to be eaten up!!

If they come out too crispy for your taste, store them in a container with a piece of bread and they will soften up nicely. (also good for oatmeal raisin cookies)

If you use a reduced fat recipe or change ingredients to reduce fat content, (like using egg whites instead of whole eggs or substituting applesauce,) it will make your cookies have a texture more like cake.

It just might be the recipe your trying to use. This is the best chocolate chip recipe I have ever made. It's from Betty Crocker. They are soft if you take them out of the oven right when the edges of the cookies turn brown.

Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies

3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
2 1/4 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts
1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)

1. Heat oven to 375ºF.
2. Mix sugars, butter and egg in large bowl. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff). Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.
3. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown (centers will be soft). Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.
(Total time will vary; cook or bake time is per batch.)

I am unsure why this is happening to your cookies. It could possibly be your oven temp is not reading correctly or maybe it's in the measuring of ingredients.
