I know their full names. I know they departed from the UK, sometime around 1870 to 1882. Any way to locate the name of the vessel, and get a view of the ship's logs and passenger lists?

Hey SaturnMan,

I find a lot of information in these sites. One of the legal records kept for a long time are Ships Manifests. So, there are sites where you can enter the surname, and find info on the passenger, who they were with, how old, where from, ship picture, manifest, etc. Check these sites:

ancestry.co.uk is doing a special promotion of their ships' passengers manifests right now. You can search for your ancestor's name and find what ship s/he came on.
