The recent election was about people being fed up with the war and Bush in general. It was not a vote for illegals,it was a vote against those in power. Nothing has changed, has it ,its still the same as before the Nov 7th election.

I think we should. Because the people are the ones being effected, so I think the registered voters should be allowed to vote. I think it should be this way for each individual city or town. If the people of the city or town vote to not grant amnesty to the illegals, then I agree that the illegals and their kids(whether they were born here or not) should be deported. i think it would be a lot cheaper to have them deportedthen to spend our hard earned taxes on them to have free welfare and medical benefits, and send their kids to school on the taxpayers expense. Not that I don't think their kids shouldn't get an education. I just feel like it's a burden on the people (taxpayers) who have to pay for their education out of their own paychecks while the illegals just sit back and collect under the table and don't have to contribute to the education system or any of these other things they are getting for free. I'm not racist, I just feel like our money could be going to other problems this country has.

The recent elections were based mainly on views of the war in Iraq, not illegal immigration or the amnesty bill. The votes in 2008 will be focused more on that issue. That will be our "National vote". They have til then to clean it up. We'll see. Until then the illegal immigration is still alive and kicking. It has nothing to do with race or legal immigration. It has everything to do with enforcing our laws and the Constitutional rights of every American.
We ALREADY have a law against illegal entry, we just need to DEMAND it be enforced. Amnesty would only encourage others to enter illegally and devastate our economy to the max. Amnesty rewards criminal behavior. NO to amnesty!!

That's all very theoretically nice, except for a problem summed up in the classic "been there, done that" label.
Ever hear about the 1991 California Voter Proposition 187 ?
It was passed by a large margin, but then shot down by liberal courts, as many other similar propositions were passed and just as effectivley destroyed.

Yes. We should have a vote on amnesty. Its the only reasonable and correct thing to do. Once the majority has decided whether to give amnesty or not, we can then act accordingly...

No. There are already laws on the books. What do they say about people who have come into the country outside of the correct processes and procedures? Follow and enforce those rules.

Yes, because it is “The Will of The People” to deport illegal aliens!
Then let's have a National Vote whether to uphold the current Immigration Laws!
Then have a vote to question Politicians and whether they should be tried for Treason!

This is hilarious.
Put the question to La Raza and to the other pro-illegal groups.
Then watch them squirm while they try to fit 'voter mandate' and 'reason why they shouldn't vote on this issue directly' together into a coherent theory.
I'll be the one laughing over my margarita.

That would be a nice idea. I say this because I am against amnesty, but I know how the representatives for my state will vote on the issue.

No.
There is no provision in the Constitution for such nonsense and for good reason. We have methods to pass laws and none of them include a popularity contest.
I wonder how your hypothetical national voters would propose to capture and dispose of all the illegals after such an election determined that overwhelmingly the people of the United States do not WANT illegals here.
