Repeated dyeing, even with temporary dyes, may have damaged her hair, making it more porous and therefore less likely to shrug off the black dye. In the end, the best thing you can do is to let the dyed hair grow out and get back to her natural color. This would mean going for a shorter cut, but the ends would probably still be black since in 3 months, she's probably only got about an inch-and-a-half of new growth. If you get a professional involved, have her hair dyed to a color that matches her natural color, so that she will not have as big a problem with roots. They need to figure out what dye they can safely use over what is already there. Once they use a permanent dye, your daughter will be best off if she stops using temporary dyes until all of the dyed hair has grown out and been cut off.

Unfortunately Black is pretty darn perm. regaurdless if the dye says temp or semi-perm.
The only way to get it out is to strip it. If you go to Sally Beauty Supply that have a stripper that comes with everything you need in a yellow box. You want to mix the stuff then put it in her hair, apply heat-just follow the directions.
The stuff is really stinky like a perm but works better than anything I have ever seen and isn't too damaging because it only strips out the dye not your natural color. You can do it over and over again untill you get results you like.
On the plus side, I think because it is similar to a perm solution since I constantly brushed my hair while the solution was in it made my hair easier to blowdry straight and almost seemed longer lol. I thought I was crazy but even my mom and brother noticed, ("Your hair looks like an inch or so longer"-coming from a brother then obviously it is noticeable and it tamed some fly-aways)
Anyways, after I used that I stuck to a strong clarifying shampoo, Beyond Zone Strip Search which smells pretty good and got out alot of color.
Just remember to condition and you should be fine. Beware of immediately dying to even out the color because since the pores in your hair are super open from the stripper any color you put on will turn out darker and grab hold strongly and most likely be too dark anyways. Just stick with the stripper and clarifying shampoo..
sorry that was so long, its just I have been there, Good luck!

Ouch. That's why I didn't try a black washout for Halloween.
I think you're going to have to bite the bullet and get her hair professionally done. Anything you do at home is more likely to damage her hair than to get the color to come out looking good. A pro hairstylist will know how to take the color out without messing the hair up.

Definitely take her to a salon. They have ways of stripping the color out since you can't dye over black.

unfortunately, you may have to strip the color... you can buy a box at the drug store, wallmart, target, they sell color removers in different brands. Then you can redye the hair to its orginal color. So it will take two steps to achieve her old hair color. Make sure you read directions carefully. I have done this before, and it saved me a costly trip to the hairdressers/

Why would you allow your fifteen year old daughter to color her hair black? I can see the temp. red, but black? That color is so severe and does not look good on anyone except people who were born with it.

Majority of black hair colors are there to stay. I think semi permanent or temporary black hair color is falsifying. When your hair is black, you can only have it bleached and changed to another color.

I understand the cost thing, but I would think that people at a beauty supply store (like Sally's) may also be able to offer you advice on exactly the products to use- and usually products are cheaper there than drug stores.

You could go to Sally's, they often have salon quality products to help get rid of the temp color. Here is their site, narrowed down to what they have for Haircolor Removers and Correctors. http://www.sallybeauty.com/shop/dept/1490
