Murder. The crusades, the inquisitions, the witch burnings, the holocaust, all in the name of Jesus. Jesus was supposed to be peaceful, so murder in his name (or anyone else's) is not only wrong, it makes no sense.

I don't know if it would be considered the absolute worst in the entire span of history, but the Crusades qualify. The Holocaust was committed in the name of Jesus and financed by the Church.

Hate and murder.
Some people have used and still use religion as a pretext for their actions. They hide behind religion, calling it their purpose or motivation, but they're only using it to reach their goals. Why they do it? Some of them are truly motivated by religion, but they misunderstand its role, so they are so influenced by what they believe in that they start exaggerating by commiting unnecessary acts. But some of them just do it becase they need a pretext and it's easier to say 'I do this and that in the name of God' because it makes you feel comfortable with yourself, you feel like throwing the blame on someone else and it prevents future conscience trouble.

The Childrens Crusades. They had a wacky idea that God would use the children to free Jerusalem from the Muslims. Most of them ended up becoming slaves or were killed or worse...
Many of them died or were captured on the way there.

first let me state that i am a christian.however there are crazy people out there who try to use god as a way to make what theyre doing seem ok.like i never got those people who were so against abortion that they set bombs off in abortion clinics.how can they sit there and say abortion is murder and therefore its wrong but then go and murder all the people in the clinic?to use God as an excuse to do anything wrong is wrong itself!!!

Killing in the name of "religion".
That's why the Lord wants us all to have a personal relationship with him.

HATE.
1 John 4:20: If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?
Peace.
