The teardrop tattoo has different meanings.
"When they were first worn they meant that the wearer had been incarcerated and or killed someone while in or out of prison. As times have changed however, the teardrop has come to symbolize a friend or fellow gang member or family member that has died while the wearer is incarcerated.
Now however the teardrop seems to have become a fad, which granted has gotten people in trouble.
It has also been used as a gang identifier. If it was on the right it meant you were a Crip or part of the Folk Nation, on the left meant Blood or People's Nation."

Yes, tattoos could stand in your way of job opportunities, especially highly visible ones. I'm all for tattoos (I have 4 myself) but I do suggest seriously thinking about this one before commiting yourself to one that is so noticeable.

I hope you know what a tattoo of a tear on a face mean. ( Well it would have to be by your eye and I'm assuming that's where you want it) It means that you have killed somebody. The tear is symbolic for the hurt and pain that you have put the victim's family through. Now if you went off and killed someone then that's you and you'll have to live with that for the rest of your life, do what you want to do but if you haven't killed anyone, then dont ruin your face like that . Get a tat somewhere else on your body. Oh yeah and I've heard visable tattoos do prevent you from getting jobs because they're unprofessional when working in a business or working atmosphere. Hope I helped. :)

Each Of The Tears On Lil Wayne Face Symbolize An Individual He Has Mudered.I've Come To The Conclusion That This Is Untrue Because In One Of His Songs,"Hustler Musik",He Says"I Ain't Never Killed Nobody I Promise." But He Also Says In Another Song He's Featured In By T-soreness Called "Can't Believe It",He Says "If Your Brothers Come Trippin' I'mma Show Them What These Teardrops 'Bout. Stating He Will Murder Them Also. Obviosly Lil Wayne Is A Fake Gangsta But With That Said He Is Still "The Best Rapper Alive"

Do you understand the original meaning of why people got this particular tattoo? The tattoo of a tear drop on your face signifies that you have murdered someone. Its common among California street gangs and in prisons.
Tattoos do not prevent you from getting a job.. I have many tattoos and most of my friends are heavily tattooed and their jobs range from General Contractor, Graphic Designer, Forensic Pathologist, Salon Owner etc.
However none of them have gang or prison tattoos.. the tear drop may give people a misconception about you which could prevent you from getting a job...

I have a tattoo but I'm dead against your idea. A tear on your face is really tacky and will definitely prevent you getting some jobs (unless the job is a tattoo artist of course!) Get one by all means, but get it somewhere where you can hide it if you need to.

Not a good idea at all. 1. You will severely lower your chance of getting pretty much any professional job and probably a lot of remedial jobs as well. 2. People will negatively judge you. You may not care about what other people think about you, but it will make a difference. Think about trying to get an apartment. 3. A tear on your face IS a gang symbol for how many "kills" you have- not a great thing to have associated with you.

The moment you put such a visible tattoo on your face you will be cataloged as the "Hippie and irresponsible type" and your possibilities of getting a good job will substantially decrease.
As you grow and inevitably become more responsible you will realize you made a mistake when you took the irreflexible decision to put a tattoo on your face that only harmed you life, relegating you thru the years to lower paid jobs.
Its not fair? well maybe not, but its REAL LIFE.

If you want to but think long and hard about it - once it is there you will have to live with it. Removal of a tatoo is expensive and painful. As far as preventing you from getting a job - I am sure some places would not hire you - but in general people are getting more open to people's individuality ~ I hope.

Considering that is a well known gang sign for you murdered someone, yeah I would stear clear of it.
No one would hire you with such a tattoo because it is common knowledge what it stands for and usually means you have done some time in the big house.
Alot of places will even remove that certain tattoo free of charge.
