I started wearing underwear when I was 3 or so, after being potty trained. ;-)
Underwear for people in general became popular in the 1600's in Europe, although there were other cultures that had been wearing undergarments for much longer than that (Chinese were wearing a kind of long underwear before 500 BC).

Just google or Yahoo search "history of bra" for more than you ever wanted to know about who invented what with bras.

Personally, I started wearing underwear when I was 18. I was still in nappies up til then.
