Based upon my encounters I'd thnk a few kind words and something to eat. Most people just ignore them or try to avoid them so seeing someone take their time to get to talk to them a bit and to maybe give them a warm meal would be my best bet. Unfortunately it's only temporary food source, but the conversation will stay with them a little longer...

I think in many places the thing they might need next to the obvious, shelter, would be warm clothes. Even here in Los Angeles the nights are starting to get really cold, and most of the homeless scrounge for cardboard boxes to use to sleep in. Then when it rains, I honestly don't know what they do. I do know that a lot of the homeless where I am often refuse help from social services. Many have access to money but because of mental problems they can't function or take care of themselves.

Awww....... what a sweet person you are. I took in a homeless person once. My husband almost killed me for bringing her home. She stayed with us about 3 days. During that time I tried to help her and help her to get a job. But believe it or not, she didn't want one. In fact she liked being the way she was and ended up stealing from us. I feel bad for them, too, because alot of them are mentally disturbed but I would just give to a good charity like Salvation Army that knows how to help them. God bless you!

most homeless people that I know have a stolen car that they live in. Seriously. Or they hide in hotels under tables and stuff. I would want someone to aknowledge that I am, in fact, a human being. I probably have made some bad choices, but I'd want compassion and a fresh start.

I would say I would want some respect and perhaps someone to just look at me as a human and listen to me talk. I would not want anything for "free" but a kind word from a person with a kind heart would probably mean the world to me.

I would want some money at all cost cause then I could proceed in buying what I want and need and not what people thought I should have or giving me hand me downs.

I was homeless, I wanted food and a blanket, something to keep me warm. Coffee would have been nice.

If I had someone who loved me and cared and would support me.. and plus if I know I have God with me thats more than enough, I know that God would take care of all my needs like he takes cares of the small sparrows.

i just dont get homeless people. call me crazy, but i dont get it! if you are disabled in some way, cant walk, mentally handicapped...then i can kind of see how it happens, but how do you explain ppl that are fully functioning, intelligent, and walking about, as homeless? Any schmuck can get a job, there's no excuse.
To answer your question, I would want a JOB APPLICATION most if i were homeless.

I would rather give a homless person
a piece of my mind than a piece of my income !
they do not want us to bother them with anything
they want to be warm- get fed and sleep
80 percent of them have mental illness
the other 20 percent are alcoholics.
they do not want our help
