This overly simplistic question deserves a simple answer. NO!
Now if you want to get into a discussion about the why and what for, then there are a couple of simple facts. Before there were guns, there were swords and arrows and spears. Before that there were rocks and sticks and bare hands. You are trying to change the psychology of the entire human race over night. Most arms (weapons) came about either for defense or aggression. If you can remove the aggression from mankind than maybe you can get rid of the arms.

Why would you want to? The problem isn't arms, it is the improper use of arms. In pathetically simplistic terms, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people."

Before firearms existed, there was murder, abuse, slavery, robbery, etc. The implements of crime will always change. The relatively constant factor involved is human nature. Unless you want to rid the world of pointy objects, wishing for arms to go away is useless fantasy.

The real problem is in the hearts and minds of humans... and if you want to empower somebody to control those, well, then I'll have to go and buy a metal lathe to build my own gun to fight any and all attempts to install such an oragnization.

Even if it was possible to bo away with the items you concider arms then people would go back to sticks and rocks. There will never be an end to weapons.

Highly Unprobable. If we gave our weapons up, we'd be destroyed for sure. It's almost a joke to say that everyone would give up their weapons at once, honestly and truly. Terrorists and other heathens would keep them and overthrow everything, in a way it's our protection from imbeciles.

Ignorant, intolerant and scared people will always find a way to do battle with each other. It starts out as self defense then gradually moves to "how do we know they will not attack us" to "we should get them before they get us"

it would have been nice, but it's not possible. if there was a ban put on guns, the only people that would have them are the one's who are already criminals. unfortunately, as long as guns exist, they will fall into the wrong hands. so it is important that guns are available to the general public so we can protect ourselves.
