Day after Thanksgiving. That's the most acceptable.

I always try to stay away from Christmas decorations until at least after Thanksgiving. I feel that we owe it to Thanksgiving to really recognize it as a holiday before we just roll right into Christmas. Also, I get so sick of looking at Christmas decorations if they're put up too early that I am so over the whole thing by the time Christmas actually gets here. I think you should really wait until at least the day after Thanksgiving to do decorations, but maybe you and your husband can compromise and he can go up on the roof and string the house lights up now while the weather's still good, and you can maybe just wait to turn them on until after Thanksgiving. In the meantime, if you want your fill of Christmas decor, hit your local mall or Starbucks, where they're known for being erroneously early with the Christmas stuff.

I think Christmas decorations should not be put up until after Thanksgiving.. It seems like u enjoy the one holiday and then the the other comes up quickly. So, the black friday after Thanksgiving, thats when u can put up the tree and the decorations then u can enjoy, the Christmas holiday more, I know I do!!! Some people were raised that a tree and Christmas is not celebrated until after Thanksgiving is over. Sounds like your husband is one of those people... Good Luck!!!

Christmas trees in our house go up the weekend BEFORE Thanksgiving. We travel a lot during the holidays and always host a huge Thanksgiving dinner so the people who don't make it to our house over Christmas can still see our house decked out with all the trimmings. We have 4 trees in 4 different rooms with 4 different themes. One of the trees is all antique decorations, a lot which are from Germany that were my great-grandparents. If I'm going to do all of that work, I want them up for awhile...

I love having our decorations up, so I try to get them up the weekend after Thanksgiving and take them down the weekend after New Year. The way I look at it, Christmas decorating is a lot of work, so I figure keeping them up longer helps make it worth while.

When I lived at home, we waited to decorate because we always had a real tree and they'll die if you put it up too early, but now that I'm married and we have an artificial tree we'll decorate the day after thanksgiving.

You usually put up your tree the Wednesday after Thanksgiving :-)
Happy Thanksgiving and an early wish for a Merry Christmas!

When I lived alone, my house was decorated the same year round. I had a friend stop by on 24 Dec and he wondered where my tree was. Xmas is my least liked time of year. Since getting married, my wife messes up the house with the silliness, and then asks me to help clean up the junk later.
Anyone ever calculate the greenhouse gases needlessly released by the excess over those few weeks?

I put up decorations on the day after Thanksgiving. My kids are off from school and are home to help me. It has turned into a tradition for us! (plus it keeps them busy)
You're right about using what you paid for. Over the years we must have bought at least $300 worth of stuff....why not show it off?

Our family decorated last Saturday. We already have our presents wrapped and under the tree. Enjoy the decorations for as long as possible because you can only display them once a year! - that's my philosophy!
