I wrote this poem for someone I love very much.
I hope t helps to answer your question....

ODE TO THE WOUNDED SOLDIER

We serve a Lord Whose name is Love
He lives within our hearts
And in His faithful service
We each take a little part
But to take upon our shoulders
The suffering of the weak
It takes a broken spirit
That is humble, that is meek
It takes a wounded soldier
To understand, to feel
It takes a wounded soldier
A wounded soul to heal

I think this is quite possible. Strong characters are able to offer support to others even when they themselves are in deep trouble. They often keep their sorrow to themselves and comfort themselves later... but if they see someone in need, they help there, first. The fact that they are under pressure or that they are themselves in some kind of trouble does not block them from doing what they feel their duty is, and what they can do, towards others.

It is always easier to see solutions for others than for yourself. Therefore I have to say yes. The irony is that you can have a problem in common with someone else and give them advice that also applies to you and help them without helping yourself at all. It is always simpler from the outside. Strange fact of life my friend.

Yes. And sometimes in comforting others we find the comfort we need.

Yes, once my friend was going to commit suicide because she was failing in her senior year, and i comforted her, but i never told her that I was going through a hard break up with my boyfriend, and did not know what to do about my own situation

Yes, definately. Sometimes, that is what brings you comfort...providing it for others. That is why we are presented with things in our lives, so we can learn to help others and ourselves.
