cats dont really get that its a light. they're probably thinking its a red bug or something. and, since he didnt catch it, he thinks its in hiding. he'll forget and take a nap, or want some food at some point. dont worry. i'd probably wait a few days before bustin out the laser again though. you dont want him to get too obsessed with it.

You need to actually let your cat "catch it"...and then let it escape someplace where he can see it's escaped to. This will contain his crazy search for the mysterious red dot! LOL! Sounds crazy, but I'm serious. Basically, have the cat chase the red dot about a foot away from where you want it to "escape" (under the sofa for example). When your cats paws have "grabbed" the dot, turn off the laser so your kitty thinks the dot is trapped under his paw. Here's the hard part...keep the laser point aimed exactly by your cat's paw (where it was when you turned it off). Then, when your kitty curiously lifts his paw to look underneath...immediately turn the laser back on and have the dot "escape" and let your kitty see where it has escaped to. Now instead of looking everywhere for the mysterious red dot, your kitty will just look for it in one place (like under the sofa). Eventually, he will realize it's escaped for good (or at least until you bring it back) and give up. Make sure that when you reintroduce the laser dot that you have it come out from where it last escapted. Lasers are tons of fun for your cat...just be careful to never point the laser in your cat's or anyone elses eye as you could cause irreversible retina damage.

It's normal. My cat's know where the light is coming from and they know it's me doing it but they still love it. They even know the sound that the laser pen makes when it's moved and they go nuts staring at me waiting for the light! Try to get him to get a clue as to where the light is coming from and maybe he'll calm down.

Yes it is normal , but keep in mind that the laser can cause irreversible damage to the kitties retina, just as it would if shined into a humans eye.
I usually entertain my kitty with one of those small mag lights, it keeps him occupied.

I am pretty sure it is , your cat is just having fun. Try to remember the time when you were a kid and you got a new toy or learned a new game, it was fun and you did int want to stop. That's the way your cat is.Eventually the fun will Ware down for him.

My cat searches for bugs. when we get a moth in the house, she will look up at the ceiling for HOURS trying to find another one. She's obsessed. But that's just cat's for ya! Nothing to worry about. It sounds like he wants to play! get him some catnip or a mousie.

Yes, I would not worry about this unless he stops eating for days. This is what mine did when I showed him the laser for the first time. He just looked "high"; Huge pupils, did not eat or drink, did not recognize us, you could not pet him. But with each time we played his reaction was less intense, so I would say just give him time.

Yes, it's normal for a cat to look for his favorite toy for a long time after it's been lost or put away.

yes your cat has been amused by the light so if they like it so much make a certain time to play with them they will be a lot calmer and will have a schedule which is good for a cat.
