1lb soft bread crumbs = 4 American Cups
0.5oz flour = 1 level tablespoon
1oz flour = 1 heaped tablespoon
1oz granulated sugar = 1 heaped tablespoon
1oz caster/superfine sugar = 1 heaped tablespoon
1oz icing/confectioner's sugar = 1 1/2 heaped tablespoons
0.5oz butter = 1 level tablespoon
1oz golden syrup/ treacle = 1 level tablespoon
1oz jam = 1 level tablespoon
1oz fresh yeast = 1/2oz dried yeast = 4 level teaspoons

My mother taught cookery to children who found measurements a bit of a problem and she used a cup as the equivalent of four ounces. It worked fine! She also used to cut 8oz packets of margarine into quarters to give 2 oz.

The Fº to Cº calculations you'll have to do for yourself! I can never remember if you divide by 9/5 or multiply by 5/9 or what!
