Definitely negative; prescribed or legal.
Simply because a majority of prescribed drugs only treat the symptom(s) yet cause an assortment of other permanent conditions.

Are you aware a large number of anti-depressants and arthritis medication can lead to type2 diabetes? I am speaking from personal experiences.

A family member has been prescribed a medication to treat sarcadosis which resulted in permanent type2 diabetes. Of course now is being treated for type2 diabetes and sarcadosis.

In my case, pain medication in most forms or types causes severe anxiety and paranoia.

Check the drug information that come with your medication. I was surprised how many causes permanent type2 diabetes. Numerous anti-depressants results in type2 diabetes.

Another reason I am against drugs, illegal or otherwise is they so often abused. I blame drug for the demise of society. How on earth can a person develop any type of coping skills or character if they have been relieve of any problems to taking maximum doses of mind-altering drugs.

Apparently character is not going to be exhibited in the frame of mind. Suddenly you don't care about anything.

Negative:

1. They only treat the symptoms and don't actually handle the reason for the problem.
2. There is a side-effect (large or small) for every drug. Why put something in your body which wrongly affects you in other ways.
3. So many of them are addictive and we sometimes find out too late that it is - take cough syrup for example.
4. Most drugs disconnect you from the "problem". Our bodies are amazingly strong and when allowed the rest and nutrition needed, can heal themselves.
