Praying will do even less than the billions the West pumps into Africa every year. You think that with 52 countries in Africa they could actually look after themselves instead of relying on everyone else.

Why only Africa?..There are sick and hungry all over the world...Chances are there are sick an hungry right in your back yard...Do you try to help them daily? Or do you choose to ignore them and wish they would go away? If you can look in your own back yard and see what is truly there..And make a promise to yourself to do all you can for them..You will them begin to make a difference in the world..

Do not get me wrong but the hunger would stop there if they gave each woman who was poor a tubal. That would be cheaper then trying to feed those who are poor. It is awful how many kids are born each year to poor families over there. The money you send you wonder if it even goes to them. So to me that would be the best way.

I will certainly wish them well but praying isn't exactly going to put food on their plates and clean water in their wells now is it?

Try donating to Oxfam or another Aid charity instead.

Sure. Did that yesterday when a missionary from Africa spoke in our church. We also gave him money to return to Africa to love the unloved.

Kathryn and Danielle beat me to it.

I'm guessing that God would like some help instead of yet another person begging for something.

No, praying is ineffective. Will you join me in contributing money to UNICEF? I sent $100 last month. I requested that the money be targeted for Darfur. I will send $250 in December, as I do every year.

No, I think I'll continue to work and put my time in with various organizations to fix the problem, but good luck with that.

Two hands working accomplish more than a thousand clasped in prayer.

Money and prayer will not help much, unless we can convince the "rebels",
who have become criminals, to stop fighting!
