It depends upon your needs and perspective. Here is a list of the anti virus programs that I have used:

1. Norton Antivirus
2. Bit Defender
3. McAfee Antivirus
4. AVG Antivirus Free

Now, if you don't want to spend any bucks and still want to get antivirus protection, then I suggest you go with AVG which you can download from www.grisoft.com

If you prefer to use paid antivirus protection (I highly suggest this), then I recommend you go with Norton Antivirus.

Norton Antivirus is extremely user friendly and cathces most of the virus. But test reports show that BitDefender can catch more infections than Norton, but it is not very user friendly. I am currently using BitDefender.

So there you go. You have to choose between Norton or BitDefender.

Here are some useful links:

I like norton antivirus. It doesn't notify you of updates everytime you turn the computer on & it lets you manually check, decide & download the updates you want whenever you have time to download them. Therefore, your computer is not being bogged down by a download that you didn't want to do at that particular moment. Its also easier to fix if for some reason you do get a back door virus. I've had problems with mcafee before on my computer and friends computers that i've had to fix for them. Norton is by far the best & easiest to run.
