Don't know about the application of your question re: global warming, per se - all the scientists and smart folk are still wrangling on this one. . .
I DO KNOW that:
The leaves in my area are changing/dropping, more slowly than usual . . .
BUT -
This happened in this area in fall/'99, also - and was then followed by an incredible ice storm in late December - and then snowfall (record amounts) in January, 2000. Everyone here thawt it was due to the 'new' millenium arriving!
Who knows the correct answers to the question of the changing seasons? Apparently only the earth and universe . . .

Leaves stay on the trees as long as it's worth doing so.If there is enough light and warmth for the leaves to make nutrients for the tree, they stay. In the winter, leaves fall off the trees to conserve water. Some leaves don't need to fall .Some have a waxy coating to reduce water loss. Others are needle-shaped,so they have less surface area for water to escape from.Because trees with these kinds of leaves don't have to replace them every year, the leaves can be less efficient at producing nutrients and energy.Every year is different, with or without global warming.Wind and sunshine make a big difference. Why not make a note year after year of when leaves from particular trees start to fall, and when new buds start to open. Have fun,and enjoy the colours.

I am not convinced yet
I always found it strange that summer was supposed to be June July and August yet September always seemed to be warmer than June. Nowadays October seems to be warmer than June
Over the last 20 years I have noticed a shift in the seasons. They seem to be moving later into the calendar St Patrick's day parades used to be bathed in sunshine 20 years ago and now you need 3 coats it's so cold and wet
On the whole I only see seasonal shift at the moment as a warmer dryer Autumn seems to be balanced by a colder wetter spring
The jury is still out however

It very well could be part of global warming..I remember years ago...all of the leaves so pretty falling on the ground..and the cars would drive over them and they would scatter. It was a pretty site. Now, there are hardly any leaves on the ground..it's odd. I think that the warmer climates are making this happen. I have heard that this coming winter is supossed to be rather mild..which I guess is good and bad. Depends on whether or not you like the cold/snow!

I live in South Devon so autumn usually hits us about three weeks later than it hits the rest of the country due to our naturally warm climate.
So no the trees are still green here!

It's very strange. I've had the washing on the line today and it dried within an hour... That was freaky. You probably think no it's not . But where I live you stop hanging your washing on the line at the end of September..It's too cold to put it out usually.

Yes its like that here, near Watford. The leaves are just starting to fall. Its nothing to do with the media invented global warming, its just a mild autumn so far.
There have been years when it snowed in May, so odd weather isn't that rare an occurrence.

No, I live in the South and all of our trees have already turned. There was no delay this year. It was warmer a little later than normal, but now it is cold outside, about like it usually is.
