I keep washing my hair but I can't get rid of the oiliness at the scalp. I've heard that I should use vinegar, but my hair dresser said this could kill my hair. Help!

Vinegar is acidic and will cut through waxy conditioner build-up on your hair. A good shampoo to use if you would rather not rinse with vinegar, is Neutrogena shampoo. The bottles are small, and cost around $4.50 American dollars. This shampoo can be used 2 times a week or so to clear off the stuff that your other products leave on the hair and it smells great, too.

Wash your hair with a shampoo that specifically reads "for oily hair" on the bottle. I have natural oily hair and, when I feel a little better physically than I do now, I try to wash my hair every 2 days using a minimum of 2 lathers. My hairdresser said the first losens the oil and the 2nd removes it. Sometimes, it takes 3 lathers if my hair is extra dirty. GOOD NEWS: Although genetics play a part in the aging process (ie:did a relative age quickly?), people with oily hair and skin tend to age slower. Now, aren't you thankful for your "plight"?!

You can buy a clarifying shampoo but only use it when you got build up in your hair..if you use clarifying shampoo every day it will dry your hair out really bad.So maybe 1 time in a week. You can also put a little baking soda mixed with some shampoo. Work it in your hair and let it sit for about 5 mintues then rinse it..remember to condition your hair afterwards because when you clarify your hair it will leave it feeling dry.

Do u scrub ur scalp, because if u r just putting shampoo in ur hair and wetting it right after without rubbing then it wont get rid of the oils. And dont use TONS of shampoo, use enough that it covers the middle of ur hand. And if u use conditioner, that may effect ur hair too.Conditioner isnt made to clean ur hair,it is made to soften and mooth ur hair.If u use to much conditioner,it will build up the oils.I suggest a shampoo called pantene,it works great. Bed Head shampoo,Garnier Fruictese is also good.Hope i helped a little! =]

Try Nioxin Bionutrient Cleanser, it is a very effective cleanser and can be used daily. I have solved many scalp problems in my salon with this shampoo. Brushing your scalp with a good firm brush will open your pores and move that scalp-oil prior to cleansing.
ISO Purifying shampoo, is a deep cleansing shampoo, and should be used about once or twice a week.

your hair dresser is wrong. yes rinse your hair in viniger, like do 1 part vinger to 3 parts water. it smells gross, but it gets rid of that build up. trust me, i've used it occaisionally for years, and i have the softest deep brown and bright red hair EVER. lol. just rinse it like i said. oh and uh, make sure you ware a lot of colone or parfume that day. lol. no joke. peace

Vinegar will NOT kill your hair. If you want red highlights you can even try a rinse of, believe it or not, beet juice.
