First of all you can't think of it as a place on a map. That's too 'human' a concept. If you can open your mind a bit more, it is described in Revelations, however it is pretty difficult to understand. I think that's because there are no human words or experiences to describe it properly. John tried to put what he saw into human terms in the book of Revelations.
We can't truly know what heaven is like, it's so foreign to all we know. So let's keep it to the simple definition: Heaven is being eternally in God's presence. Hell is eternally separated from God's love. You pick.

Both are described - see Revelation.
I had a pastor once who said it like this:
To those who are lost, Earth is the best they will ever experience. To those who are saved, Earth is the worst they will ever experience. As infinitely horrible as hell is to Earth, so infinitely better is heaven.
If you look around at the wonders that God placed on this Earth and the imagination He gave us to make fun things to do, skiing, para-sailing, amusement parks, etc., think on how much better and infinite God has made for our eternal home. There will be no suffering, no sadness, but more than that, we will never be bored. But the best part to Christians is that we get to be with the Lord forever.

It does describe Heaven, in Revelations, when God showed John the Baptist Heaven, in the Old Testament, Isaiah, Jerimiah, Ezekiel, and others, prophesied what the judgement and Heavent was gonna be like.....Its all in there. And if you believe all of it is made up, you're gonna be in for a rude awakening @ the judgement! God Bless!

Because the promise of Heaven isnt as big of a motivator (to do the Churches work) as the fear of Hell is!

HAVE YOU EVER EVEN READ THE BIBLE?
Try reading the book of Revelation. There is a very good description in it.
