No. There a plenty of people who buy property in the U.S. and aren't residents. There are also people who are temporary residents and buy property (H-1Bs visa, L1 visas, student visas, etc.)

It is unlikely that a green card will be a requirement. As property is also an investment strategy and the U.S. is not going to prevent foreigners from investing their money in the United States. That would just be shooting ourselves in our foot because roughly 5.1 million Americans are employed by foreign companies. The payroll for these people is over $300 million.

BTW - Citizenship is NOT a requirement to own property. Permanent residents (green card holders) are not citizens but they are legal to live and work in the United States.

no, how do you think people from other countries have vacation homes here. they don't have green cards and depending on the country they are from some are only required to have a passport from their country and not a tourist visa either. Anyone can buy anything in this country if you have the money.

No because you have to be a legal citizen a green card is only for you to reside TEMPORARILY in the United States. Real Estate companies do not sell to those who are not legalized citizens.

You can't buy an apartment (rent only) unless you mean you want to buy a house. Im sure you can use your green card.
