I've been on Effexor XR for almost 3 years. It's the only medication that has helped my panic disorder. If I get off them I start having panic attacks all over again. I'm on 150mg. per day. It does seem to dull your senses a bit, I don't show too much emotion, it keeps me very calm and reasonable. My one complaint is that I always feel tired, but I'd rather feel tired than experience the panic all the time. No medication is perfect!
Without the Effexor in my life, I wouldn't be able to work, drive, go out with friends, I would just sit at home and wait for my anxiety and panic attacks to take over. It's been a blessing for me!

I have had all 3 (yet not for rigidity), I nonetheless take Effexor XR. Effexor made me diaphoretic (sweaty) and photosensitive at severe dosage. also, it more effective urge for nutrients heavily (to the point the position i'm clinically overweight). Zoloft bumped off my emotional responses. observe that drugs effect persons in differing procedures and for this reason the efficacy and undesirable consequences of the drugs on your case may decision from those of others. Psychiatric medicine could continually be taken lower than the supervision of a medical practitioner - of route a psychiatrist is the prominent option. in case you do not have one, locate one and ask their suggestion.

I have taken almost every anxiety medication possible.
But none of them worked, but effexor helped the most out of them all.
I have always had extreme anxiety. And I still have it to this very day, but quit taking medication for it. Sometimes I wish I was still taking something...

I take effexor xr for depression. I have anxiety at times, but it isn't my major illness. But it does help somewhat with that. I don't need another med.
there are stronger meds for anxiety like xanax and atavan. These are strictly anxiety meds. If you suffer from anxiety more than depression, you might need something specifically for anxiety.

No me, but my b/f took it for a long time. It didn't do much for him right away, but after 3 weeks he did feel a lot better. I noticed a "big change" in him. He was much calmer.
But.. he said he didn't feel emotion, either way ..i.e, didn't feel sad, but didn't feel happy..
He stopped taking it and went right back to being very anxious again.
Talk to the doctor...ask what to expect from Effexor.

No, no medication is a cure for anxiety. It will have an adverse impact on one's immune system. Just calming down is the best remedy!

i feel less anxious ever since ive raised my dose from 75 to 150 mg 2 wks ago. however, i have started to feel REALLY tired, so i don't know if this is worth it. i might go down to 75 again because i dont want to have to take a stimulant to balance it out.
