She is uncommited to anything in her life except being uncommited (if that makes sense). We had a "great" relationship for about 3 months, then she started to pull away. She got scared and she says she always does (we have talked about it extensively, I assure you all). So, how do I put it gently but firmly, that if she wants me in her life she needs to commit? This ambiguity is not working for either of us, and we both know it and recognize it, but she seems unwilling to do anything about it.

sounds like this girl has had some bad experiences with past commitments. if she really loves you, then the best thing would be for her to get some councilling so she can learn to deal with her past failures and learn how to overcome her current fears..
