I was about 15. It was caused by watching a horror movie. Got obsessed with the movie and lived in fear for about a year without confessing the weird thoughts to anybody. Then it came back when I was 21. After breaking down, I finally understood I had OCD. After that I was able to get rid of that terrible disorder.

I have to have a spotless house with everything put away for me to "function" while doing anything. Right now my office at home is a bit out of sorts, and its causting anxiety in my every day life... I guess it all started when I went to college. I was about 18 and had to start caring about my own environment I was habitating. I also have to color code my closet and sort between sweaters, long sleeved shirts, dress shirts, and tshirts. I stack money in my wallet according to the bill. I also like making lists of things to do.

I am a checker. I check, what I have checked and re-check it again. Taps, oven, stove, iron, front and back doors. To leave the house everyday is a 15-20 min. ritual. I have actually stood there and cried because I couldn't tear myself away from checking the stove or back door. I think I started this in my early teens.
Life-altering events happened in my younger years and wonder if this was the start of my OCD.

It's a lot better now I can control it better.
Then when I was 17 I started to over check things like front door, cooker etc.Again for same reason and I can control it.

This is a very good blog, a beginner’s guide to abnormal psychology.
Short, clear and simple; and you can even post your question and contact the author regarding particular subject you are interested in
