Whether it be the radical Christians who killed many hundreds of tousands or the radical Muslims who are killing thousands now, as technology increases there will be even more chance for destruction. Is religion the most direct threat to human life on this planet?

Dear Joyfilled49
Christianity is a religion made by, well I'm sorry if you didn't know this, men.
Do you want to know what amuses me? It is exactly the attitude you have that has bred violence and hatred in your religion and the religion of others in the past.

The way humanity is going toward deeper and more volatile religious polarization, Christians/Jews versus Muslims, I think some level of global warfare is inevitable. How bad it is depends on who has nuclear weaponry and won't hesitate to use it "in the name of" their deity of choice.

faith, confident - Christianity, no! Humanity has *additionally* reached heights of technological progression, that some, in any different case clever, human beings have allowed themselves to have self assurance they *be attentive to* that Evolution is a actuality, that worldwide Warming is "shown" technological awareness (by making use of consensus, no much less), that acid rain from Ohio is inflicting environmental problems in New England, that 2nd-hand smoke is a well being probability, that there "could" be intelligence existence on different planets, that T. Rex became right into a meat-eating carnivore extremely of a rotten-flesh eating scavenger, advert infinitum! additionally, some human beings have self assurance that Islam, Freemasonry, Mormonism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, and Jehovah's Witnesses are valid religions!

I'm optimistic. I think we'll eventually outgrow religion. Religion is a threat to society, but I think that we can overcome it. Already there is a great backlash to the current religious push in the US. The religious pushes seem to get stronger and shorter, like someone gasping for their last breath.
They are still in the vast majority, though, so there will be much unpleasantness before it really starts to fade. We're already seeing it fade somewhat in the UK and other parts of the world.

Probably. Most Christians are actually looking forward to "the rapture" when the Earth will be purged and, from what one person told me, Jesus will descend from Heaven and physically blow up the Earth and create it a-new. To be honest, that just borrows from Hinduisms Brahma life cycle.

Dear Jett,
Religion is man-made and there are nearly as many religions as there are men. Many of them have SOME good points about them but none of them delights the awesome uncreated Creator of the universe.
The Creator wants to be in a right Relationship with His creation but that ONLY comes about by realizing that while we were still dead in our sin nature, Christ died for the ungodly. He is the Way the Truth and the Light for those who accept Him as their LORD and Savior.

Eventually, in the distant future because society is too wrapped up in it, people will realize the truth and then we will be in for a big change.
