Depends on what you're trying to acheive.
Is your scalp dry or is your hair dry?
Is your hair brittle and is breaking or does it just feel dehydrated and dull?
If your hair is brittle and breaking dry (ie damaged) you're better off using a deep conditioner or reconstructor - check to make sure it has protein in it (example: hydrolyzed silk protein, wheat protein) and amino acids. These products are designed with the molecular strusture of the protein to be small enough to penetrate the cuticle of the hair and "feed" the hair what it needs. Will also help store elasticity and shine.

If your hair is just dry feeling but relatively healthy - choose a product that has panthenol (a bodifying agent) and or silicones (such as dimethicone, amodiomethicone, dimethicone copolyol). Will add shine and bounce to hair.

Slepping with oil on your head and then washing it out will give you some shine but- it is not addressing the long term problem.
Stay away from mineral oil- suffocates the hair cuticle and is VERY weighty on the hair- tough to wash out.

If you have dry hair, yes. But a really good one that I learned from a hairdresser is mashe some rip avocado, mix in a couple of tablespoons of olive oil, then massage into the hair. Wrap it in cling film and leave on for 1/2 an hour-rinse off then wash hair as usual. It works really well!

not much of harm though. but u hv to be careful wen u apply oil do not sleep on the cot.

basically most of the people they oil in the nite, since they hardly get time in the morning. so nite is best time.
if u oil ur head along with massage gives u a nice sleep and also leaves ur hair smooth n shining the next day after taking a quick bath.

i think so. coconut oil is good, if u want something with less of a strong smell go for almond oil. in asian shops u can get oils that have all kind of herbs pressed in to them that are supposed to give your hair lots of shine and nutrients. all good, but a bit more expensive than 'food' oils.

Yes it will do your hair good, but remember to wear something on your head to avoid the oil soaking into your pillow !

shouldn't need to be overnight as there is only so much that a hair shaft can absorb.............apply it . put on a shower cap and wrap a towel round it the heat will speed up the absorption

instead, buy something like pantene pro-v serum. you just put a little in your hair after you shower in the morning when its wet, and it leaves ur hair shiney and silky. plus u wont smell like oil. good luck.
