Well I had my navel pierced back in feb/march this year and now its growning out and has got to a point where its only in my skin about 1mm in. It was fine when I had it dont and felt nothing but now its migrating. Can you get this re-done and if so how soon? I know scarring can affect the re-piercing. Thanks

Take it out now if you haven't already. With the skin that thin, something had to have gone wrong. Either that or your body recognized that something was there that shouldn't be and ran its course to get it out.

This is referred to as rejection, where as mild movement of a piercing as its healing is called migration. Migration can lead to rejection and keep in mind, not everyone's anatomy is suited for piercings and that my have had a part in this. Of course, I cannot see your navel to be sure.

Once you take it out, wait 3-6 months for it to fully heal. Keep the area clean so nothing gets in while its healing, this could cause infection. Once you believe its healed, go see a piercer and explain the situation. They will be able to repierce it, just keep in mind that it will be more painful and since the tissue is thick, it COULD end up crooked. Make sure they are clean and safe and that they do use a high quality metal such as surgical stainless steel (often other materials can cause issues of all sorts). If it rejects again, then you might want to try the bottom of your navel or you might just not be able to have it.

Good luck.

well i just got mine done 2 weeks ago and mine really fine you can get it re pierced but you still have clean it even if it's months down the way still keep it clean no matter what first you need to go back to your piercer and or to a body piercing shop and have then look at it and still get some of the cleaning stuff they have behind the counter and clean it with that and make sues you know what kind of material you have in your belly i have stain less steal you need to start out with what the piercer gave you and go back to the normal piece you started out with make sure it not a cheap belly ring you have in now, and you might have changed the belly ring to soon ,even if you healing time was up you still need to wait email me if you have any questions OK

It does happen sometimes, it's the body's natural way of getting rid of a foreign object. It's very common with eyebrow piercings. I had mine pierced, took it out and let it heal then pierced again and it was fine. You'll probably have the same trouble with it growing out again though.

Piercings do migrate out of the body it just depends where and how your body reacts to the piercing. My belly button bar grew out very rapidly but my tongue didnt.
You can get it re pierced but just make sure it is fully healed first and mention it to the piercer before hand just to make sure you may have found that the last one was out in a little too shallow or possibly that you twiddled with it too much

What is the jewelery made of?
I know a few people who somehow became allergic to the metal (silver) after having it for a few years.

Before you get rid try replacing it with a gold one. I think titanium is good too.
Just put any old one in until you figure out if you're allergic or not. I find most of the gold ones are ugly and obviously more expensive but worth it if you want to keep your piercing.

It's definetly migrating. My eyebrow did this, and all of my other piercings have been fine. Talk to your piercer about it, but you're going to have to take it out and try again. This can happen if you use jewelry of a smaller gauge than you were initially pierced with, and it can also happen for no reason whatsoever. They can probably repierce right away.

Its just growing out, you can get it re- pierced straight away as long as there's no infection. It will have to be pierced in a slightly different place to avoid the scar tissue.

Well i have had mine in for nearly 10 years now and mine is just starting to grow out now. I would advise you go and see your doctor coz it shouldn't be growing out yet or you need to go back to the place you got it done and ask them why they should be able to explain.

Good luck

I have had my navel pierced 3 times because of regection. Whats happeneing is your body is saying 'hey WTF is this?? lets get it outta here!' and your body pushes the ring out. Its very annoying, but nothing can be done about it, just go see your piercer and he will have the best recommendations on when you can get ir re-pierced, and the next time they may put it in a little deeper than the original. Welcome to the world of regected body piercings! :)

TAKE IT OUT! My sister went through that. She didn't know it was actually going to grow out and left it in and it grew out and it was horrible. It looked like it had been ripped out with meat hangin out and all she said.
Some people just can't do peircings in some areas. Their body just rejects it.
