I've done this and it worked - I pulled off my shirt and said,
"look, with a body like this, I don't need a God to worship."
They were actually speechless! Then I slammed the door and yelled through the letter box,
"F*ck off, or next time the pants come off too!"

I'm astonished at reactions to such Qs. A similar one on JWs got 50 answers, most of them requiring lying, being rude or threatening. Dear people - Mormons and JWs have a persecution complex. What are you doing feeding it? You'll only convince them the world hates them so they must be the right religion!
You brave Mormons and JWs who have answered; please accept my apologies for any ignorant behaviour you've experienced or read of, but do take stock of the persecution complex point. Jesus did not go from door to door. He preached sermons, told stories, and dealt with peoples' Qs by turning their pointing fingers back at themselves.
You can learn a lot from answers to these Qs, such as, you're doing more harm than good? The JWs are hardly growing numerically at all despite millions of hours door-knocking. The Mormons are growing steadily yet do far less door-knocking. Jesus said Christians ARE salt and light in this world (not SHOULD be), so why not work out ways of being that? Of course, that means dropping your isolationist policies and your 'them and us' attitudes. Which latter point also applies to unkind attitudes expressed on this page.

In order to properly convey the idea that you don't welcome door-to-door proselityzers, you should post a "No Trespassing" sign. The Jehovah's Witnesses have instructed their members not to knock on any door where such a sign is displayed. I would imagine the Mormons would similarly acknowledge this sign.
"No Soliciting" signs, on the other hand, may not work. That's because each jurisdiction (i.e. township, city, county, ect.) defines "Soliciting" differently. However, all jurisdictions define "Trespassing" pretty similarly.
Folks who knock on your door anyway should be politely reminded of your "No Trespassing" sign and pleasantly told you are not interested.
Peace.

Call the local "ward" or the temple. COMPLAIN and complain loudly. Put a sign by your door that you do not want MORMONS coming here (J.W.'s also, if you are so inclined). It stopped them from coming to my house.
I told them the person they were bothering had a heart condition and their presence was making him sicker.
If they still show up, with the warning sign and the phone call; then cuss them out and throw them off the property and DO NOT LET them get one word in. I put on a crazy act, it works!! LOL but don't forget it is an act and let it affect your blood pressure. Good luck, it can be done~

Lol, I got woken up one morning and came downstairs in my pj's to answer the door. The mormon asked if my parents were in and could they speak to them........I am 24 and own my own home!!! I laughed and said, "Yeah, they're probably in......they live about 30 minutes away, thanks, bye" and shut the door!
Usually the people I get knocking on my door are okay about it when I say I am an Atheist and they leave me alone.

Your question is bogus. They don't tract door to door on Sunday mornings. They have to be at church for early meetings. They don't repeatedly tract the same houses. If you are not interested say so, and they will go away.

Well,
My brother had a friend who was, well had a sick sense of humor. What he did was after about the second visit of "no thank you" (he had trouble with JW's but they are both door knockers) he drew a chalk outline of a human being on his front doorstep. In the middle of it he placed out JW readings. They got the picture

I don't know about mormons but I do know about Jehovah's Witnesses (have been one for 13 years !!). If you really have problems with them calling on you, you can ask them (hopefully politely) to write your address as a "DO NOT CALL". They will record your address and will stop calling.

Many years ago, a pair of mormans sat in our house and told my mum they wouldnt leave until they had spoke to me dad, as her opinion on the subject didnt matter, my dad came back from work and threatened to kick em both up the path, they never came back. And they wanted 25% of the family income to go toward there church. Nutcases, if their religion was that great, they wouldnt need to go banging on doors, word of mouth would be enough surely.

I politely say "Thank you, I understand your mission and good luck," then gently close the door. I had to tell one that I could not subscribe to a church that had to go door to door advertising like an old vacuum salesman. Made him angry, but he got what he deserved by being so obstinate.
