The USA are slightly larger than China but if you include Taiwan, which under international law is still a province of the PRC, China is larger. The USA are about half the size of Russia and still smaller than Canada.

By population, China is bigger, with 1.3 billion people. The US has just over 300 million.

By area, they're are about the same, with the US slightly larger. The US contains 9.63 million square kilometers, while China has 9.59 million square kilometers. However, the Chinese figure is disputed, since some of their boundaries are less clear, and the official Chinese government figure for the size of their country would make China larger than the US.

If you are speaking in terms of population then China is bigger. China has a population of around 1 billion while the US population is around 300 million.

If you are speaking in terms of area, then they are both around the same size. It depends what area figures you use. The area of China without disputed territories is 9,598,0861 km². Included disputed territories its area is 9,640,8212 km². The area of the United States is 9,629,091 km² counting only the 50 states and District of Columbia. If you included our overseas possessions such as Puerto Rico and Guam then we would have a larger area.

To summarize, it really just depends on what figures you use. You might as well consider them comparable in size because they are very close.

Russia is the largest, Canada is the second, China is the third, US is the fourth. That's counting Taiwan as a part China. Maybe that's where Chinese and American statistics are different.
