My beloved grand-mother used to tell me it was because(in her day) a crown coin was worth a lot of money, and if someone had two `head` crowns they had twice the amount so one day they would be rich. However, I am more inclined to believe that , you were lucky because you could part your hair on either side, without it sticking up at the top.

Well, most people get one. But you'll be lucky to get another one. That's why it is lucky to have double crown.

Double crown is no way lucky, trust me i have one. GAH!
I guess its just 'lucky' because it is rare, anything that is rare is usually said to be lucky. For example birds dropping on you.

The only thing it did for me was give me a bald area that looked like i was losing my hair from the age of 13.

I have a double crown, and i've always wondered about that, especially as all the luck i have had is bad luck.

Because it's easier to tell someone that they're lucky and them be happy than tell them they can never have a trendy haircut and them be sad.... just a guess.
