Base on camera features. performance, photo quality and ease of use, which digital camera is preferable the Canon PowerShot S3 IS, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H5 or the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7?

Well you can sit here and read all of the biased opinions about the cameras, but you really need to go to the store and hold them and try them out. Find which one is best for you, someone may recommend a model to you on here but you may hate the controls or the way it feels.

I won't go with panasonic they are not known well for digial camears. The companies that have historically made good digital cameras are....
Nikon
Fuji
Cannon
Olympus

These companies have been making cameras for hundrends of years. Sony from what I understand makes great cameras for movie making. Back when digital camers were really coming out. Sony was the only camera that could take movies with sound and no time slots. Most digital cameras back then would have these time slots.

My dad has a canon powershot camera I don't know the model but it takes great pics. The downfall is that it eats batteries.

Canon is a good digital camera brand. Panasonic's battery dies down too fast.
