I have a Mary Passel in my genealogy. I have not been able to trace her ancestry yet, but I have found several Passels on immigration lists (arriving in USA) originating from Bremen, Germany about the time that I think her family immigrated here. I just ran the Passell spelling through the Ancestry.com immigration lists and I saw them coming from Scotland, Ireland, and Germany, so there must have been more in the UK at one time. You can search further on Ancestry.com. Through Nov 30, they are running a special where their immigration collection is free to search. As far as I know, it only has immigration records for the US and Canada, but you might find some ancester in there.

There is a website www.genesreunited.co.uk. On it there are 130 people with the surname passell registared. You might even find some relatives. One of them might be able to help you with the origin of your surname. I have reason to believe it was either American or Spanish.
