If they are born again. It is not hard to do, but someone who rejects God cannot do it. For the first step is to believe that God exists, second believe that one falls short of His glory (admit sin) third see that Jesus is the perfect Lamb of God who died to take away the sins of the word, who rose again to conquer death and rose to heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father.

If you know how to forgive, forgiving is not bringing up the past. You feel uncomfortable when you have done something wrong, the fist person on your mind is the Lord, The first one you think of in the morning is the Lord. The Lord is the last person on your mind before going to bed. You don't need regular praying times but can and do pray either with head bowed and out loud or just by think to him while you are in a crowd. You know,
the answer is in your heart.

Don't follow anyone's opinion, follow the Bible which says:
"These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life."
1 John 5:13

Believing in Jesus is the only way to KNOW, without question, that you are saved.

The deeper question is, "How do I know that I truly believe?" This is evidenced by being radically changed in the new birth.
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come."
2 Corinthians 5:17

Have you been radically changed into a "new creature"? Have your desires been changed to now want to live righteously? Do you now see Jesus as beautiful and your greatest treasure? If so, you've been born again and you can rest securely in the arms of God that He will bring you safely to Himself!

A person would have to forgive themselves for everything that they fall short of, feeling that they did their best, even in the lies and the other sins of their past, a sense that they were not always the ones in control, that something greater was, then they know as much as anyone can know that they are saved.

Did you do what it says in Romans 10:9,10? If you mean it, you are saved. It may take a while, but build your faith up. Faith comes by hearing... the word of God. Read the Bible out loud and then you can hear it.

If you read the bible and follow what it says a saved person does then you should be able to tell. If you have to question it then you probably are not.

You stand in front of Jesus Christ in judgment, then he commands that the Pearly Gates be opened, and the angels escort you in.

Other than that, you can't be absolutely sure.

Anyone who tells you otherwise, is fibbing.
