Matthew 27:5 says that Judas Iscariot when he died he hung himself. Acts 1 says that 'no' he jumped off a cliff head first.

Any explainations to this? Which method did he died?

Thanks

If you are thinking of trying to spot a contradiction, then you will be disappointed. The Bible did not say that Judas committed suicide in two different ways. It clearly says in Matthew that he hung himself. Acts simply recorded that he fell headfirst and his stomach was cut opened by the fall. You only call it a contradiction when the two accounts are impossible to reconcile. But it is perfectly plausible that he hung himself from a tree near a cliff or ravine and the branch upon which he was hanging later broke off. Unless you are saying that this scenario is impossible you do not have a contradiction to rave about.

interesting question: NAV says: He bought a parcel of land with the wages of his iniquity, and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle, and all his insides spilled out. NIV: 18(With the reward he got for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out. and KJV Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.
David Guzik comes up with the following explanation:
Peter’s words show a wisdom we did not often see in him before; he begins by noting that Judas didn’t spoil God’s plan, he fulfilled it (this Scripture had to be fulfilled). This is something that only the wise and mature can see when evil happens.

c. Luke’s historical note calls attention to how Judas died. Matthew 27:5 says that Judas hanged himself, but apparently he failed in the attempt, fell, and was killed by the impact of falling from the tree in the Field of Blood.

i. It was a Field of Blood not only because Judas spilled his blood there, but also because the field was purchased with the “blood money” given to the betrayer of Jesus.

Maybe he tied the rope around his neck and Then jumped off the cliff. (Perhaps you could demonstrate? grin) Seriously, there's an interesting account of the love story at the link below. (Maybe another scandal?)
