you haven't waited long enough for the pills to work, a bacterial infection will take a few days to clear up after getting antibiotics. And if it's a viral infection, then the pills they gave you aren't going to do anything at all for it.

Suck it up and wait a few more days, if it doesn't clear up, go back to the doctor.

Was the medication you were given an antibiotic or a decongestant?
If an antibiotic - go back to the Dr.
If a decongestant try any or all of the stuff below.

Have you tried steam inhalation?
Get a non-plastic bowl (and ideally one not used for food) and put some just boiled water in it. Stick your head ideally with a big towel over the bowl and inhale. You can add Olbas Oil, menthol crystals, vapo-rub, calvol or anything similar to the water to help the steam penetrate. Do this more than 3 times a day and as often as you can.

Have you tried washing/flushing your nasal passages out with Saline?
Saline can be bought at any chemists and lots of other places too. If you tell the assistant what you need it for they should be able to sell you the correct shaped bottle. It has a similar effect to getting water up your nose when you are swimming. If you do this in the morning and at night for a minimum of a week. You are also supposed to examine the colour of what comes out - if it is bright green/yellow than you got an infection - go see Dr.

Have you tried mometasone furoate monhydrate?
I don't know if you need a prescription for this but ask in your pharmacy.

Ask your pharmacist?
They are great for suggestions for problems like this.

If you get repeated problems over an extended period then get hold of a book called Sinus Survival it has loads of great ideas.
Hope you feeling better soon

If this problem carry on for too long i would go back to your gp. I let my sinus head aches go on for 3 years and the doctor kept fogging me of with pills til i had a enough and asked for a second opion, my sinuses were in such a mess i had to have 3 different kinds of surgery to correct them. If you are having a lot of facial pain, tooth ache and pressure behind your eyes dont let the doctors give you tablets all the time they only work for so long. Get your self checked out at a ent clinic as they know what they are talking about.
Hope you get your self sorted soon.

Well my mother has sinus problems also. The doctor asked her do you live close to pine trees or pecan trees. Those are the two worst trees to have. Then we got ride of all the pine trees in our yard and it started clearing up. But later on she had to have surgery on her sinus. You can try holding your nose and blowing till your ears pop. They have a package deal at wal-mart called a Sinus Rinse. You may try it it helps also.
