When I go to Tools/Windows Update it will not scan for any updates. It says something about an active control having to be digitally signed. What to do to update my system?

You need to install the activeX control...

You must use internet explorer to use windows update, mozilla or any other browser is not supported.

Usually when you go to the windows update website, a yellow bar appears in your internet that says something about an ACTIVE X CONTROL wanting to install, just click that yellow bar, and click INSTALL!!!!!!!!!.... see if that works for you.

Also, when in internet explorer, try clicking TOOLS, then INTERNET OPTIONS, BROWSE to SECURITY submenu at the top, and change all your SETTINGS TO DEAFUALT in each category.

tools....Internet options......advanced tab.....click on the "reset ..." button

go to the programs tab and click the button for manage add ons
bottom of drop-down list "downloaded active x controls"
look for any that are listed as Microsoft corporation
either make sure that its enabled or delete them
restart IE and go back to the update site, you should see the prompt to install the active x controls and away you go.
