there is this muslim woman married to a catholic man in the Philippines. they remained "secular" or "maintained their own religions by being married under the government, not in the mosque or in the church. they didn't marry under their religion because they aren't the same in terms of religion and that they refuse to be of the same religion (either muslim or catholic). now they have four children, the first child became a catholic, the second, a muslim, the third child, a muslim and the youngest a catholic. is that right? for me, i think it is just a good decision because they fought for their love, no matter how strict both islam and christianity (roman catholicism) when it comes to marriages.

terrorismbuster,
they are contented in their lives and i've heard religion is not the topic in their home. what's important for them is that they love each other.

I think it is up to the couple. I don't see where anything is wrong about it, and it is great for them to let their children decide what path they wanted. Both religions are strict in their beliefs but their love for each other is more important, and obviously they respect each other which is great.

I am not sure of the marriage laws of Islam, but I do know the marriage laws of the Catholic Church.
What the couple has done is outside of the norms of the Catholic Church. By the laws of the Catholic Church, all of the children should be at the very least educated in the Catholic faith. This does not necessarily mean that the children have to be baptized, but they must be educated int eh Catholic faith.
It is curious that two of the children are being raised Catholic when the marriage of the parents is not recognized as being valid in the Catholic Church. How is the mother teaching her children to be faithful Catholics when she does not follow the Catholic faith in regards to her marriage or the raising of the other children?
She is sending her children mixed signals. Do as I say, not as I do.

God loves all people. Muslims and Christians can get along. Unfortunately only one religion is right. There were two founders: Muhammed and Christ. Which one is still alive today? That is who needs to be followed for the "religion."

Both Christianity and Islam are under the umbrella of "The Religion of God". Their marriage is, no doubt, pleasing to God.

Is the children's decision a matter to be decided upon by their parents? Regardless of their parents' religion, the children must be given freedom to follow their own choices.

thats totally ABSURD !!! any muslim woman in ISLAM is aksed to marry a muslim man only ...
i dont think do that their marriage is valid in islam ...
on the otherhand .. if we look at society type too ..theri wont be any peace in their home ..as they both belong to diff religions n thus their must be sum controversies arising b/w them onmany internal affiars ..
the kids wont have any REAL love b/w thenselves as all of them know that the next brother is not of their religion ..that would give birht to so many diff in future ..!!!

It is good when children are allowed to follow their own way in religion. More people should teach their children to learn, explore, and find G-d as they see fit.
Chad------Jesus died 2,000 years ago. Mohammad died about 1500 years later.

they are wrong... absolutely and totally wrong... poor the children... there is no such thing in islam that tells us that you can marry any man of any religion....
you have to be serious when dealing about religious issues... you can't separate your way of life and religion, because they are two sides of the same coin...

It is rather peculiar , I have no idea how could it happen in this way, in regardless of the way of their marriage, in religion wise , it is not permitted. It is a sin for their marriage.

Which do you think should win out---truth or emotion?
It would be blatantly wrong for a Christian, under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, to marry a Muslim that would not convert.
