Unfortunately, I do believe she is mostly fake. I also know people who have had readings with her (they were very upset by them, and she just glossed over things). I also know someone who is married to one of her good friends, and he said that she jokes about how she's spending all those ****** idiots' money......
Interestingly, as soon as mediumship became more popular and known about, she immediately jumped on the bandwagon and became a medium! She lives near me, so we get to hear more about her. I think it's really sad -- she seems miserable.
I can't understand how Montel can allow a so-called "psychic" ASK the questions ahead of time for people, instead of coming up with the information on her own! I am always shocked the few times I have seen her on tv and see people saying, "I want to know if my dead mother is okay?" And of course, Sylvia always answers with "Yes, she is happy and fine..." I mean, come on!
I have had personal experience with only a couple of "real" psychics, however, they do not advertise and one must find them word-of-mouth ... that way seems the most reliable. People who just naturally have "the gift," often aren't people you'd know are gifted. But when you find one -- and they are few and far between -- and they're not on those internet psychic sites or 1-800 numbers -- then you have found something rare.
I agree with the poster about Sylvia first saying she WOULD test with James Randi and then backed out -- and LIED about him. Go to his site and you can read all about the Sylvia fiasco and watch the clock continue to count-down. I actually believe there is intuition, and spirits, and I've had my own share of hard-to-believe experiences, but Sylvia.....she's made millions on other people's misery.

Knowing people who have had bad experiences with her and knowing some personal things where she basically laughed at her clients, makes me have no respect for her. She'd have a better reputation if she put herself out as a (bad) performer and charged money -- at least it would be ethical then.

Never heard of her in particular, maybe because I don't watch Montel or any other talk show but I do believe that Mediums and Psychics exist. The real ones don't charge exobitant fees for their services though. Some people say that if they were real they wouldn't charge at all but our world works on an exchange basis. You do a favor for me then I'll return the favor, so to speak. If we take something we have to give something of equal value.

am cynical and skeptical simply because there are many who make claims and their information can be interpreted many different ways. did a paper on psychics for Sociology class and the answers were different or could be interpreted either way the reader wanted. 10 years after the class was receiving ads from psychics I never heard of.

There is no evil on this, depends on how you treat it.
Perhaps I am a medium, since I have seen ghost, SPIRITS or I feel their presences, and what they are thinking at times, one Spirit spoke out lout to me, but they always came to or around me, I never really try calling them in, my Prayers seem to bring some to me, especially if it's to do with my son or for protection. I even felt God's presence and what he said to me.
They always been very nice, especially the Spirits, loving, they touch very nicely and are comforting.

It's evil in the sense that she preys on the gulliblity of emotionally vulnerable people for money.
She is a fraud of the first water, and her constant evasions of Randi's test and repeated lying about it leave her with little or no credibility.

I think I lost respect for her after she agreed to take Jame Randi's paranormal test and then welched out on him. That reeked of snake oil salesman, to me.
And then her backtracking while in the middle of an interview about the dead miners in January.
Don't get me wrong, I believe there are psychics who are the "Real Deal" out there. I just don't think she's one of them.

She's expensive. It's like $750 for a call that probably lasts five minutes.
