Excellent question! Spicy foods can stimulate autonomic neurons of the branches of the trigeminal nerve (cranial nerve 5 (V), that controls ophthalimic, mandibular, and maxillary (face) sensation). In other words, in some people, spicy food stimulate the trigeminal nerve and it reads the stimulation as a cue to cause the face to blush.

You could have a mild rosecea. It's a skin condition. Your dermatologist can prescribe a medication that will kind of deaden the muscles - you won't even notice anything. Don't be scared.
If it looks like you're blushing - that could be it. The same thing happened to me for no reason - I wasn't eating anything to flare it up. Look up Rosecea on the I'net. & read. If that's what it could be, catch it early. Spicy foods and coffee - things like that should be avoided in excess. Hope this helps.
Else, maybe some anxiety too.

it is a classic element for some people. The redness has to do with the way the physique breaks down alcohol -- some people (maximum somewhat asian populations yet no longer exclusivly) have a mixture of enzymes that are slightly distinctive or in much less quantity than standard and convert the alcohol to a substance that motives flusing extra merely. it is a classic element, by way of fact the 1st substance after alcohol is the 1st step to breaking down the alcohol, yet in persons that get purple the alcohol is switched over to this quicker and the enzyme that breaks this down works slower.

My cheeks get very red when I drink alcohol. I expect it dilates the blood vessels directly.

Both alcohol and some spices in the food cause the blood vesels to dilate hence the redning and it is called
erythema (redness due to blood vessel dilation).
