A police caution is just a written warning for the offense you committed. It's telling you that you better be more careful or you may end up with real charges. When my department issues written warnings for violations, the warnings are entered into the computer system. There is a record of it, but not the type of record that will follow you around....unless, by chance you actually get in more trouble for the same type of offense in the same jurisdiction, and then the office may research the electronic files and bring up in court that you had been issued a caution/warning for the same thing. Then your chances of an attorney getting you off the charges in court are slim to none. As far as your job, I doubt it would hurt anything, unless you're a cop. Most "civilian" jobs don't really care about minor traffic offenses, only really bad things like theft, robbery, and worse.

We don't have these in Canada, unless you are a young offender and you have received an "official warning". If it is just a warning you will have no criminal record. Police have their own records systems and it won't come off of there but this is not accessible to the public.

although any caution administered by the police in the UK will remain on the PNC (police national computer) for life it is not a criminal conviction and will not show up on a disclosure (criminal records bereau check). depending on what the caution is for you can after a degree of time apply to the cheif constable of the county you live in to have to caution removed from your record.

I was cautioned at 15 for nicking a mobile fone... (silly i know but i was young)
I didnt actually go due to the fact my dad was in hospital sick and i totally ended forgetting about it!!
Well i ended up getting a warrant for my arrest...I got picked up when i was 17 for drunk and disorderly and they got me then for the mobile fone from when i was 15!!! (BS i know)
I got a 12 mth good behaviour bond and a $100 fine!!
If ur under 18 it doesnt stay on ur permanent record... but if u r over 18 u wouldnt get a caution anyways..cos they for first time offenders!!!
Good luck
